Sri Chamarajeshwara Swami Temple, Chamarajanagara

Couple of weeks back Chamarajeshwara Swami Temple of Chamarajanagara was telecasted on TV9 in its popular TV show ‘Heegu Unte’. From many years it is a belief that anyone who is in power or any ruler visiting this area will lose his power. The temple is built in commemoration of Chamaraja Wodeyar.

To strengthen the fact, rulers and politicians such as Devaraj Urs, Ramakrishna Hegde and H D Kumarswami have lost their power after visiting this temple. Not only these even a recent scam which made the Karnataka minister Haratalu Halappa to resign also happened after visiting this place.

Chamarajanagara was earlier called as ‘Hari Kutaara’ and later got the name Chamarajanagara because of God Chamarajeshwara Swami. The reason behind Ministers and rulers are losing their positions mainly because of affecting the temple premises of Chamarajeshwara Swami. A lake in which the Lord Chamarajeshwara was believed to take bath is being closed by the order of the authorities.

Chamarajeshwara temple is very famous temple of this area and many people visit here. Especially the fair taking place in the month of July or August (during Aashada) will be attended by thousands of newly married couples with a belief of getting good offspring.

Even though Chamarajanagara is a district head quarter there are no good stay rooms or lodges so staying at Mysore is preferable.
