Many experience the divinity at this place which is present no where else.

The place gained importance because of a saint Sri Sugnanendra Theertha Swamiji who lived at this place and wanted to have his last moments at Mantralaya. But it was not possible for him to visit Mantralaya during his last moments and he went to Samaadhi stithi at Nanjanagudu itself. Sri Sugnanendra Theertha Swamiji along with others namely Sri Sujanendra Theertha Swamiji, Sri Suprajnendra Theertha Swamiji and Sri Sukruthindra Theertha Swamiji performed Yagnas to attain moksha and get blessings of Lord Sri Hari. May be this is the reason behind the hearing of Vedic chants at this place till today.

Sri Sugnanendra Theertha Swamiji was upset on his cancellation of going to Mantralaya and one fine day Sri Raghavendra Swami came in his dreams informing that he will be present at Nanjanagudu and also informed to meet a laundry man who will guide further. Chamarajanagara was earlier called as ‘Hari Kutaara’ and later got the name Chamarajanagara because of God Chamarajeshwara Swami. The reason behind Ministers and rulers are losing their positions mainly because of affecting the temple premises of Chamarajeshwara Swami.
